Mobile Command

IP-based video communications equipment is increasingly being used to enhance and supplement military intelligence from the field, either for combat or non-combat purposes. Performance and reliability of IP-centric video devices and solutions have dramatically improved in recent years. In addition, the small footprint of end-to-end solutions enable ground troops to include the light-weight hardware with the rest of the gear they are carrying.

Application areas for Streambox solutions include deployment to special forces with the need to capture and stream video quickly and reliably over low data rate satellite networks for further evaluation at mobile or central command centers. The ability to quickly share video intelligence with command centers could, for example, help speed up the identification of captured enemy combatants and augment ground personnel’s overall situational awareness.

The technology can also be used in Comms on the Move applications.

Mobile Command Work Flow
Streambox light-weight rugged encoders enable special forces in remote areas to stream time-sensitive video intelligence back to mobile and central command centers for assessment. The field personnel can
communicate directly with e.g. the mobile command center by using the IFB Server and Client over the back-channel IP connection.
